Cultivate Community Create Powerful Connections and Academic Success

This course will highlight the importance of creating a community within the classroom. Teachers and students collaborate to create a social contract that will form a classroom community that will foster growth and well-being. In a classroom with a strong sense of community, research has shown that students exhibit academic, social, and emotional growth.  Implementing a classroom community in a student's educational career has shown to be successful in a range of K-12 classrooms, including: under-performing, high ELL population and low socio-economic.

Number of Units: 3.0 graduate level extension credit(s) in semester hours

Who Should Attend: This course provides continuing education for K-12 educators who want to create a classroom community to aide in student success.  Anytime is the time to start creating this learning environment.

Course Format: Online Self-Paced*, to be completed within the set dates:

  • Enrollment is available now through February 6, 2023
  • Course opens on January 9 and completed assignments are due no later than March 12, 2023

*Online Self-Paced courses are a perfect blend of accessibility, convenience and flexibility for you to control your learning pace. Your instructor will provide feedback via written responses on your assignments and final project. Grades are based on assignments and completed projects. You have up until March 12, 2023 to complete and submit your course assignments. Please pace yourself to allow enough time for instructors to respond to your submissions. Course completion date will reflect March 12, 2023 on transcript for all participants that successfully meet the completed course work due date deadline.
