Learn How to Model and Promote Well-being to Your Students
Designed for educators looking to enhance classroom productivity, decrease stress and cultivate a caring and peaceful classroom, our mindfulness training course helps teachers enhance the sense of well-being among their students and school community. In this course, we will introduce learners to the concept of the Mindful Classroom, utilizing real-world scenarios to drive home the tenets of this program.
In a mindful classroom, teachers are able to encourage collaboration, foster a sense of excitement about learning, and reduce stress and increase success for students and staff. While this may sound too good to be true, educators across the nation are implementing mindfulness strategies to create a happier, healthier and more productive classroom experience.
Learner Outcomes
- Be able to effectively articulate why mindfulness is important to learning, and identify mindfulness-related concepts and definitions, rationale and benefits of a mindful classroom.
- Learn how to identify and monitor personal/individual levels of mindfulness among students and staff.
- Develop and implement a mindfulness map and classroom plan of action that will help you cultivate well-being in your own classroom.
- Learners will be able to cultivate a compassionate classroom and school community.
- Cultivate a mindfulness toolkit of best practice skills and resources.
- Learn how to integrate mindfulness in any classroom or academic setting.

Number of Units: 3.0 graduate level extension credit(s) in semester hours
Who Should Attend: This course provides continuing education for teachers (Grade K-12) seeking to enhance their own personal and professional well-being, including entire school staffs searching for a way to cultivate a compassionate, caring and creative classroom while enhancing quality instruction. Administrators and school nursing staff, counselors and coaches will also benefit from this course.
