Course Description
Understand Your Leadership Purpose and Begin Your Journey toward a Teacher Leader Role
This course will explore Theory and Ideology related to leadership in education, including exploring Leadership styles and identifying their strengths. Additional focus will be placed on how educators can exhibit leadership in their current role. A greater focus will be placed on developing a peer's skillset and crafting meaningful Professional Development experiences.
Learner Outcomes
- Identify your "leadership why" as well as understand how healthy and efficient leadership practices can affect school culture and student outcomes
- Identify Leadership Opportunities on your campus or within your district
- Explore entry-level coaching habits and gain an understanding of how to foster collaboration within your teams
- Explore facets of effective Professional Development opportunities including in-person, asynchronous, small-group, one on one, and hybrid formats
- Create a Professional Learning opportunity based on an identified need at your campus
Course Details
Number of Units: 3.0 graduate level extension credit(s) in semester hours
Who Should Attend: This course provides continuing education for educators seeking additional opportunities for growth and leadership. Participants may be currently serving in a leadership role, looking to hone their practice, or looking to excel into leadership in the coming years.

Prerequisites
This course requires participants to be able to self-advocate to acquire new technology skills such as Google apps, extensions and Digital portfolio tools.
