Course Description

Determine Project Value to Maximize Expected Value

This course is the second in the Project Management Certificate series. The course will cover the significance of and methods for choosing a project development methodology and how this impacts a project's life cycle as well as specific elements of project planning. Additionally, the course examines the importance of establishing, prioritizing, and maintaining the value in project outcomes.

You will continue to use The Standard for Project Management - Seventh Edition by Project Management Institute, Inc. (2021), which includes the orientation for developing a value delivery system and delivery principles which guide the execution of a project. You will also explore elements of tailoring your project to accommodate the environment and situation in which a project resides.

From the A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide) Seventh Edition, you will explore the project performance domains of Delivery Approach and Life Cycle as well as the Planning Performance Domain. These domains and standards enhance the Knowledge areas of Scope, Cost, Schedule, Procurement and Resource planning from the Sixth Edition of the PMBOK® Guide. To enhance your project management understanding of planning, you will explore several chapters in the An Introduction to Project Management, Seventh Edition, Predictive, Agile, and Hybrid Approaches by Kathy Schwalbe (2021). Similar to the prior course, you will build and elaborate on your project artifacts both individually and in groups.
