Master Resource and Communications Management

This course provides a comprehensive overview of construction documentation, communication, and contract administration, emphasizing industry-standard formats, digital tools, and legal frameworks. Students will explore the complete project lifecycle, from site evaluation and sustainable planning to submittals, progress payments, and closeout procedures, while managing stakeholder communication, record keeping, and contractor responsibilities. By integrating technical knowledge with practical applications, students will gain the skills necessary to support efficient, compliant, and high-performing construction project execution

Learner Outcomes

  • Utilize industry-standard formats such as OmniClass, UniFormat, and MasterFormat, along with modern digital tools including BIM and document management systems, to effectively organize, manage, and communicate project information
  • Implement strategies for clear and complete communication among stakeholders and maintain accurate records throughout the project lifecycle to support compliance, coordination, and informed decision-making
  • Identify and analyze key legal concepts, contract modification mechanisms, and standard payment procedures to ensure compliance, manage risk, and uphold responsibilities among project participants
  • Evaluate site suitability and regulatory factors while incorporating sustainable design principles into programming and facility development to support long-term project value and feasibility
  • Manage submittals, RFIs, and field documentation to ensure timely reviews and approvals, and execute effective closeout procedures and postconstruction services to support project completion and operational readiness
  • Assess contractor duties related to material handling and site operations, and analyze progress payment processes to ensure contract compliance and financial accuracy
