Course Description
Master Health Information Management: EHR Modules for Patient Access and Revenue Cycles
This course provides students with an overview and fundamental understanding of a wide variety of health information management (HIM) functions within the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system. Students will learn concepts essential to EHR modules, including document management, coding, scanning and archiving, registration, community-wide scheduling, patient accounting, authorization management, and referral management. Through hands-on engagement, students will master the associated EHR desktops and the interdisciplinary processes required to deliver efficient and safe patient care.
Learner Outcomes
- Navigate the Health Information Management (HIM) EHR module and the modules associated with document management — including coding, scanning, and archiving
- Master the registration processes in the EHR
- Understand the community-wide scheduling processes within the RCG module
- Utilize the revenue cycle (patient accounting) as well as the authorization and referral management areas within the ARMG application
