  • Between February 2020 - May 2022, it was estimated that over 300,000 public school teachers and other staff quit due to burnout.  As of early 2023, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reports a net loss of nearly 600,000 educational staff nationwide demonstrating a similar rend among private/other schools.
  • An estimated 55% of existing educators report they are "thinking of leaving the profession".

  • Journal of Drug Education reports teachers are increasingly turning to substances to deal with stress as self-reported survey results indicate higher rates of alcohol, amphetamine, and tranquilizer use.

Teacher Retention, New Hires & Retirement Concerns

Testimonials

"This course couldn't have come at a better time in my teaching career. I got so much out of it. Thank you." -- Donna Cardona, Educator, Fresno, California
"My knowledge of burnout has changed significantly. Prior to the course my assumption was that teachers who have burned out were simply not meant to be teachers and could not handle it. I now realize that there is more to it than that and that burnout can be prevented . . . I am much more understanding and informed about burnout. I may have made incorrect assumptions in the past about teachers who burn out but now I feel like I can be part of the prevention/solution." -- Brian G., Special Education Educator, Grades 6-8
"Before the course I believed burnout to be something that happened to a person without his or her ability to avoid it happening. Now I understand that a person has to be self-aware and active to help stave off burnout. . . . The course resources on burnout helped increase my awareness of the environmental characteristics that can cause burnout, but also gave me tools to combat those symptoms . . . I have the power over burnout, it does not have the power over me." -- D. Jones, Teacher, Grades 7-8, Arvin Unified School District, CA
"This course provided me the content to [move beyond "admiring the problem" into the realm of assessment and intervention] to help myself and it made me take the time to better understand what was going on with my own burnout. It also offered assistance and feedback with ideas on how to help and intervene before it went any further for myself. I also have gotten and am creating resources to help others in my school who may be feeling the same way I was." -- Shannon S., School Social Worker, Madison WI
