Course Description

Credit Validation for DoDEA Participants Only

Participants will actively engage in all AVID Site Team and subcommittee meetings. During these meetings, AVID Best Practices will be facilitated, and site team members are expected to implement these strategies with fidelity, incorporating one or more elements of rigor into their curriculum weekly. Participants will learn to develop and integrate rigor into their curriculum to better prepare students for the demands of high school credit courses, honors and advanced placement courses, and other college and career readiness skills. Additionally, participants will facilitate one or more meetings to foster the development of teacher and student leaders, as well as parent advocates for college and career readiness.

Learner Outcomes

  • Facilitate one or more meetings utilizing the AVID Professional Learning Practices to enhance delivery of curriculum
  • WICORize one lesson per month (Jan-June) to implement rigor into curriculum or during a faculty/school improvement day
  • Explore relevant curriculum and resources to support first steps/weeks and schoolwide implementation
  • Align participant interests with passions to create job opportunities within the role of student recruitment, aligning data, community outreach, scheduling, and public relations within the KMS Community
  • Develop and refine AVID Best Practices and AVID Center Professional Learning Practices for classroom, school, and community discourse
