Course Description
Explore the Positive Effects of Technology for Your Students
This course investigates the equitable use of social networking, online learning, mobile technologies, and web-based applications in the classroom. Application of these technologies in the classroom is geared to help educators facilitate and strengthen teaching and learning in mathematics and science. While integrating these technologies, you will explore the implications of technology for learners. You will expand your online presence by building a digital professional learning community using X and other approaches to encourage the legal and ethical use of the Web and other software. Additionally, you will explore digital applications, such as Google Workspace for Education, to enhance a learner’s ability to explain and interpret their learning. Finally, you will learn how to incorporate blended learning through a “flipped classroom” and “flipped mastery” model of teaching.
Learner Outcomes
- Assess the range of platforms and social media tools available for ongoing STEAM communication, visualization, collaboration, and research
- Design activities that support a participatory culture and digital citizenship
- Create a social presence to join online communities such as professional learning communities (PLC)
- Use digital applications for teaching and learning
- Apply the "Flipped Classroom" model of learning
- Create lessons and reflect upon curriculum choices that highlight digital tools for teaching and learning

Who Should Attend: This course provides continuing education for K-12 educators as well as other school professionals, including higher education faculty, that want to be informed on STEAM teaching.
