This course will examine multiple development domains. Participants will explore early childhood development in the physical, cognitive, social, and emotional domains. Participants will learn about multiple developmental theorists throughout history and the role they play in understanding child development to this day. Participants will utilize their increased knowledge of child development and apply it to their role as an educator.

- Explain how understanding child development is foundational knowledge for working with young children
- Demonstrate an understanding of different developmental theories
- Utilize course content to observe a child and better understand the child’s development

Number of Units: 3.0 graduate level extension credit(s) in semester hours
Who Should Attend: This course provides continuing education for Multiple Subject credentialed teachers needing ECE units to teach TK.
Prerequisites
Students enrolling in this course must have successfully completed EDC-X711W or EDC-X724U, a bachelor’s degree, and California Multiple Subject Teaching Credential.
