Credit Validation for AVID District Leadership Training 5 Participants Only
AVID District Leadership Training 5 is an opportunity for participants to network with other district leaders through professional learning and collaboration opportunities. The focus is on the direct impact of district leadership on high quality AVID implementation along with how district practices that support AVID Schoolwide with a focus on rigorous academic preparedness, opportunity knowledge, and student agency are sustained through AVID's four Schoolwide domains of Instruction, Systems, Leadership and Culture. These professional learning trainings are delivered either face-to-face or virtually, and ADL 5 can take place any time during the school year. This professional learning experience can earn 1.5 units of graduate level extension credit (in semester hours) for attending and completing all aspects of the training that includes active participation in the course and completion of all assignments. Participants can enroll for university credit up to six weeks after completion.
Learner Outcomes
- Understand and develop a mission- and vision-driven approach to leadership motivated by the "why" and rooted in the AVID College and Career Readiness Framework
- Create and nurture an intentional culture throughout the district that aligns to the AVID College and Career Readiness Framework and ensures students get what they need
- Understand systems thinking and apply that knowledge to AVID implementation, refinement, and sustainability
- Establish WICOR® as a means for bolstering rigor in a district, with a focus on ensuring high-quality instruction for all students
Course Details
Number of Units: 1.5 graduate level extension credit(s) in semester hours
Who Should Attend: This course provides continuing education AVID District Directors and district leaders enhancing their AVID College and Career Readiness System (ACRS) for all students districtwide.
Format: AVID District Leadership Trainings are presented both face-to-face and virtually.
Course Requirements: All professional learning requires participants to have their own device or laptop that can connect to the Internet. Participants must bring an acceptable device, power cord, and earbuds/headphones with them to the training. If a district-issued device is being used, be sure to log in to the device on the district network before attending. Device software and preferred web browsers (Chrome or Firefox) need to be up to date. It is highly recommended that participants have both browsers on their device prior to attending the training. Acceptable devices include laptops, Chromebooks, Surface devices, and iPad Pros. Unacceptable devices include iPad minis, iPads, Kindle or Galaxy tablets, and smartphones.
NOTE: The deadline for registering for university credit is up to six weeks after completion of the last module. Late enrollments will not be accepted after this period, no exceptions.
