Course Description

Credit Validation for Madera Unified School District Teachers Only

In this Madera Classroom Management Method (MCMM) course, students will be provided the fundamental skills to be an effective classroom teacher. Research-based strategies will be used to focus on classroom management in addition to instruction and motivation to ensure a quality learning environment.

Participants will complete a series of 10, two-hour trainings from September through April. Teachers will be asked to implement, document, analyze data, and write a summary report about the changes occuring in their classroom before and after implementing the MCMM strategies. Documentation and summary report will total 40 hours.

Learner Outcomes

  • Design classroom for maximum classroom management by considering furniture arrangement, wall displays, colors, lighting, sounds and smells
  • Ability to set rigorous behavioral expectations in the classroom
  • Manage disruptive behavior using step system
  • Identify and eliminate teacher (self) contribution to classroom disruptions
  • Apply management discipline to avoid administrative interaction
  • Recognize correlation between great lesson plans and great classroom engagement and on task behavior

Course Details

Number of Units: 4.0 Units of graduate level extension credit in semester hours
