Course Description

Master Diagnostic Proficiencies Utilizing Electronic Health Records (EHR)

This course will provide students with an overview and fundamental understanding of the concepts essential to anatomical pathology, imaging and documentation management, laboratory, microbiology, outreach laboratory and laboratory mobile phlebotomy, in relation to diagnostic services electronic health records. Students will engage and understand the associated desktops and the interdisciplinary processes within each to carry out efficient and safe care of patients. We will explore how each diagnostic EHR program can be tailored to match each caregiver’s unique work?ow or job description, while maintaining and achieving policy and regulatory requirements

Learner Outcomes

  • Navigate the anatomical pathology module and the microbiology module
  • Master the laboratory processes in the diagnostic EHR including outreach laboratory and laboratory mobile phlebotomy
  • Successful use of the imaging and documentation management processes within the ITS and IDM applications

Number of Units:  2.0 graduate level extension credit(s) in semester hours

Who Should Attend:  This course provides continuing education for those who are either beginning their careers in the healthcare field or those transitioning between areas in the healthcare field.
