Course Description

Credit Validation for DoDEA Participants Only 

This book provides tools for individuals to reflect on their existing behaviors while developing skills to build their cultural competency portfolio. Leadership requires introspection, recognizing how their responses impact their co-workers and students. As a culminating project, students will prepare an intentional leadership plan that describes their journey as well as their own cultural autobiography.

Learner Outcomes

  • Engage in reflections and cultural interviews to explore what they have learned about those who are culturally different to them
  • Develop a unique cultural autobiography to provide a picture of the cultural memberships that have influenced who they are as individuals
  • Use the Cultural Proficiency Continuum to examine their progress as a leader who serves students and communities
  • Prepare an intentional leadership plan that summarizes their journey and plots a path moving forward.
