Course Description
Credit Validation for California Council for the Social Studies Participants Only
TK-12 teachers will participate in the annual CCSS conference for Social Studies educators. This year's theme is Building Bridges: Past, Present, and Future. A variety of keynote speakers, sessions, and workshops will provide teachers with information and strategies for effective teaching and learning of Social Studies as presented in the state framework, standards, and initiatives (e.g., State Seal of Civic Engagement, Ethnic Studies, Global Education, Literacy, Media Literacy, etc.).
Learner Outcomes
- Expand knowledge and understanding about key issues and changes in teaching Social Studies in California (history, geography, economics, civics, government, etc.)
- Develop skills and strategies for teaching historical analysis, evaluation, point of view, chronology, spatial thinking, and reasoning
- Access resources (e.g., primary sources, maps, videos, articles, books, etc.) to improve teaching and learning from multiple perspectives
- Increase knowledge, resources, and skills for teaching civic engagement, ethnic studies, social and emotional learning, literacy, current events, and other key issues/topics
