Course Description
Learn How to Analyze Data and Real Case Problems Using the Powerful Tool of Excel
This course will illustrate data analytics with Excel using fundamental statistical concepts (i.e., descriptive statistics, statistical inference, and regression analysis). In so doing, it offers students a jumping-off point into the world of visualizations and data-driven decision-making from a one-stop-shop software solution. Participants will become adept at tools such as Pivot Tables, the Data Analysis Toolpak, the VLOOKUP, and other formulas which are relevant and applicable to today's vast enterprises and business endeavors.
Learner Outcomes
Participants in our Essentials of Analytics in Excel course can expect the following outcomes:
- Navigate Excel's functions and formulas most often used in data/business analytics
- Create tables and charts on the fly/ad hoc
- Formulate and test hypotheses about a population mean and/or a population proportion
- Identify linear relationships in data and produce regression models

Number of Units: 2.0 graduate level extension credit(s) in semester hours
Who Should Attend: This course provides continuing education for working professionals who have completed at a minimum a bachelor's degree or are currently enrolled in a degree program, including financial/data and/or business analysts, accountants, client relationship managers, and account managers from a wide variety of industries. Anyone interested in data analytics is also welcome.

Prerequisites
This is the first of four courses in the Data Analytics and Visualization Certificate. Courses must be taken in order.
A Bachelor's degree or currently in a bachelor's program, with a basic mathematics background preferred, with at least one course, preferably, in basic statistics taken at the college level.
