Course Description

Credit Validation for San Diego County Office of Education Participants Only

This course is designed to support you in your practice as a qualified paraeducator. You will engage both synchronously and asynchronously with your instructor and each other to learn about and apply core dispositions of a successful paraeducator and effective teaching methodology as a co-educator in a PK-12 classroom.

Learner Outcomes

Describe the core dispositions and "heart" of a successful paraeducator
Explore legal and ethical issues related to classroom practice and analyze their own professionalism
Discover ways to co-teach, collaborate and communicate with their co-teacher and other professionals in the field
Examine and employ behavior modifications and supports in their own work setting
Use data collection to implement lessons on organization and task completion to improve students' executive functioning skills
