Course Description
Credit Validation for San Diego County Office of Education Participants Only
This course is designed to support you in your practice as a qualified paraeducator. You will engage both synchronously and asynchronously with your instructor and each other to learn about and apply core dispositions of a successful paraeducator and effective teaching methodology as a co-educator in a PK-12 classroom.
Learner Outcomes
- Describe the core dispositions and "heart" of a successful paraeducator
- Explore legal and ethical issues related to classroom practice and analyze their own professionalism
- Discover ways to co-teach, collaborate and communicate with their co-teacher and other professionals in the field
- Examine and employ behavior modifications and supports in their own work setting
- Use data collection to implement lessons on organization and task completion to improve students' executive functioning skills
