Develop Your Classroom Website So It Works for You

Is your classroom website non-existent? Or do you have a website that remains static all year long?  Learn how to let your classroom website work for you.  Taking the appropriate time to plan and create a well-designed classroom website can provide improved efficiency, increase communication between you and your students, and their parents, elevate your organization and management of the classroom, and enhance your teaching which can, in turn, promote learning. This course is designed to allow educators to employ strategies to create effective classroom websites and/or enhance ones that are currently being used.  This course introduces the usage of various online open source tools that can be used to integrate classroom content, media, projects, assessments, and Web 2.0 content available to students and their parents, to provide an innovative interactive online environment.

The goal of this course is to learn how to design an effective simple website and select appropriate material for the subject matter of a given course and/or grade level taught.  Participants will demonstrate application on how to build or edit a website, how to convert content to be suitable for the online website application, and how to integrate various types of Web 2.0 material into the website application.

Who Should Attend: This course provides continuing education for teachers (K-12) who are wanting to improve on their student and parent communications by creating a new and/or improving their existing classroom website.

Course Materials: No textbook requirement.  Access to the Internet is required.
