Course Description

Engage Individually with Literature to Make a Positive Change in the Classroom

After completing the corresponding R.E.A.D. Part I Series course, launch a critical dialogue using Defusing Disruptive Behavior in the Classroom with other related writings and/or videos from the field of education that you will individually research. Engage within a professional learning community, promoting continuous improvement and professional development. Build on the ideas and perspectives of Defusing Disruptive Behavior in the Classroom, pursuing avenues of further research and action to improve education.

This course allows you to engage individually with literature to make a positive change in the classroom. It is one of many in the University of San Diego’s R.E.A.D. Part I and Part II Series that allows you to complete your reading and assignments at your own pace and when it is convenient for you!

Course Details

Number of Units: 2.0 graduate level extension credit(s) in semester hours

Activities:

  • Use online research skills to locate relevant content articles and/or videos (many tips are provided)
  • Create a professional development presentation for other educators
  • Develop a personal implementation plan which will bring about positive change

Steps to Completion:

  2. Upon completion of all assignments, you will submit an electronic file of your completed work by uploading it to the course under My Courses in your account at http://PCE.sandiego.edu.

Who Should Attend: This course provides continuing education for teachers (K-12) focusing on enhancing classroom management, and also interested in earning professional growth through the powerful activity of reading.

Course Materials: Access to the same book from the prerequisite course.  Internet access is required.
