Course Description

Credit Validation for AVID District Leadership Training 1 Participants Only

AVID District Leadership Training 1 is a professional learning session that can be delivered either face-to-face or virtually. ADL 1 takes place during the summer. AVID District Directors will learn to navigate AVID resources, calibrate through hands-on activities, understand the AVID College & Career Readiness System along with its data driven components, refine their coaching skills and deepen their understanding of AVID's Certification System. This professional learning experience for District Directors leadership training, and attendees can earn 2 units of graduate level extension credit (in semester hours) for attending and completing all aspects of the training that includes active participation in the course and completion of all assignments. Participants can apply for university credit up to six weeks after completion.

  • Promote sustainability of college and career readiness through fidelity to the AVID system
  • Promote and manage the inclusion of relevant stakeholders and the alignment of district site plans, decisions, documents, and policies in college and career readiness efforts and high expectations for all students

Course Details

Number of Units:  2.0 graduate level extension credit(s) in semester hours

Who Should Attend:  This course provides continuing education for AVID District Directors designated as the district's AVID contact.

Format:  AVID District Leadership Trainings are presented both face-to-face and virtually.

Course Requirements:  All professional learning requires participants to have their own device or laptop that can connect to the Internet. Participants must bring an acceptable device, power cord, and earbuds/headphones with them to the training. If a district-issued device is being used, be sure to log in to the device on the district network before attending. Device software and preferred web browsers (Chrome or Firefox) need to be up to date. It is highly recommended that participants have both browsers on their device prior to attending the training. Acceptable devices include laptops, Chromebooks, Surface devices, and iPad Pros. Unacceptable devices include iPad minis, iPads, Kindle or Galaxy tablets, and smartphones.

NOTE:  The deadline for registering for university credit is up to six weeks after completion of the last module.  Late enrollments will not be accepted after this period, no exceptions.
