Credit Validation for DoDEA Participants Only

This four-day summit invites principals, teacher leaders, instructional coaches, and district leaders to embark on a transformative journey—moving from visionary thinking to actionable impact. Framed by the theme “From Dreaming to Doing: Earth to Mars,” the summit encourages participants to sustain current successes, innovate boldly, and collaboratively chart new frontiers in educational leadership.

Learner Outcomes

  • Articulate school and district improvement plans aligned with Blueprint goals
  • Demonstrate increased capacity for leading change, fostering resilience, and leveraging data for instructional improvement
  • Develop and begin executing actionable strategies that move their schools “from dreaming to doing”
  • Showcase their ability to drive meaningful change in their schools or teams (for extension/implementation parts, 2-credits)

Course Details

Number of Units: 1.0 - 2.0 graduate-level extension credit(s) in semester hours

1 Credit: Awarded for full participation in all three half-days and one full day of the summit, including engagement in core sessions and collaborative activities

2 Credits: May be earned by submitting evidence of the execution and impact of plans developed during the summit week. Artifacts may include implementation reports, lesson plans, data analyses, or other deliverables demonstrating sustained action and innovation

University of San Diego – Graduate-Level Extension Credit Information

The University of San Diego partners with this program to offer graduate-level extension credit(s) in semester hours through the Credit Validation Program. To earn units, participants must register for and successfully complete coursework through the external program provider.

Credits earned through USD’s Credit Validation Program are widely accepted by many school districts and universities across the United States for purposes such as license renewal, required professional development hours, short-term skill building, salary advancement, credentialing, and potential advanced degree pathways. These units do not apply toward a master’s or higher degree program at the University of San Diego; however, they may be transferable to advanced degree programs (e.g., MA, EdD, PhD) at other institutions that accept external graduate-level credits.

Participants are responsible for confirming acceptance, transcript requirements, deadlines, and applicability of units with their employing district or intended institution prior to enrollment.

Transcript Process: Final grades submitted by the program provider will initiate the transcript process. Grades should be submitted within 7 days of the official course end date or the course enrollment deadline—whichever comes last. Participants are responsible for ensuring their mailing address is accurate and up to date in their USD student account to avoid delays in transcript delivery.

Transcript Delivery Timeline:

  • U.S. addresses: 2–3 weeks
  • International addresses: 3–4 weeks

Helpful but Non-Essential Prerequisites

Current Role in Educational Leadership: Participants should be serving as principals, teacher leaders, instructional coaches, or district leaders, as the content and activities are designed for these roles

Familiarity with District and Blueprint Goals: A working knowledge of your school’s or district’s improvement plans, as well as DoDEA’s Blueprint for Continuous Improvement, will help you engage more effectively in alignment and planning activities
