Course Description

Credit Validation for LACAOSA Participants Only

The Curriculum Course will focus on the Orff Schulwerk philosophy and its application in a typical classroom setting. Participants will explore the implementation of common Orff activities for elementary students, along with in-depth, grade-level objectives. The course will cover the development of instructional strategies and lesson plans, aligning activities with teaching standards, and creating an integrated curriculum map. Special emphasis will be placed on teaching and assessing improvisation. This course is suitable for teachers at any stage of their Orff journey.

Learner Outcomes

  • Develop an understanding of child-centered, developmentally appropriate music skills for grades
  • PreK–6 Apply the Orff Schulwerk process and strategies to plan music instruction for grades PreK–6
  • Create a general elementary scope and sequence using multiple teaching and learning modalities
