Course Description

Credit Validation for DoDEA Participants Only

This course focuses on designing interdisciplinary units that integrate science and social studies with writing, based on research-backed best practices. Participants will learn to use informal pre-assessments to adjust lessons, design mini-lessons for more effective learning, and implement small-group instruction strategies to support students. By the end of the course, participants will engage in collaborative planning, collect evidence of student learning, and reflect on their practice to continually improve instruction.

Learner Outcomes

  • Engage in class discussions to reflect on experiences and collaborate on interdisciplinary planning
  • Record and share a lesson using tools learned throughout the course
  • Provide feedback on at least three posts from peers
  • Collaborate on planning and developing effective teaching strategies
  • Collect evidence of student learning through pre- and post-assessments
  • Submit a journal and surveys by the required deadline

Who Should Attend: This course provides continuing education for DoDEA Participants.

Prerequisites

Participants must a certified elementary teacher who has administered summative assessments.
