Course Description

Credit Validation for DoDEA Participants Only

Teachers will engage in an active research study of their own practice in the secondary literacy classroom in an effort to improve student engagement. Teachers will be introduced to multiple "Tier 1" instructional strategies that are intended to improve student discourse and inquiry. From those options, teachers will select one strategy to try with students, videotape themselves in the classroom, and then reflect on their own success with the new strategy, as well as their students' engagement and learning. Teachers will participate in this active research cycle once for 1 semester hour of credit or twice for 2 semester hours of credit.
