Course Description
Credit Validation for DoDEA Participants Only
In this one-hour course, participants will be able to build on their previous knowledge of High-Quality Instructional Practices (HQIP) introduced during SY 2023–2024. During the SY 2025–2025 HQIP professional learning, they will focus on creating systems that foster a learning environment that accounts for learner variability to ensure access to learning for all students. This course involves 15 hours of professional learning that builds upon each of the five CCR professional learning sessions which occur during the 2024-25 school year. Participants will explore ways to establish a student-centered learning environment which fosters students’ academic mindsets, establishing the foundation for deep academic, social, and emotional learning, and promote student engagement, attending to the different ways that students learn. They will come to understand the importance of using standards-aligned assessment data to inform instructional decision-making and monitor student progress toward goals. Participants will see how proactively planning instruction to account for learner variability can ensure access to learning for all students. Throughout the course participants will develop a comprehensive understanding of these practices and apply them within their own teaching context. They will collaborate with their colleagues in this course as they share and provide feedback on student ‘artifacts’ that represent the implementation of a new instructional practice. Participants will also reflect on changes in their practice (both before and after implementing a strategy from the CCR professional learning).Learner Outcomes
- Plan math lessons using the 4-step intentional planning process and determine how to monitor students' ongoing progress
- Apply strategies that address learning variability within a class of jagged profiles
- Analyze class data to form teacher-led small group instruction to differentiate instruction and meet the needs of students
- Establish the structure and protocols that promote productive group work
- Examine collaboration structures between classrooms and support educators that allow for the development of effective feedback to families regarding student progress
