Course Description
Credit Validation for Slingerland Participants Only
This course is designed for a limited number of participants wishing to become staff teachers in the Slingerland® Training Courses. The content encompasses all learning of the introductory and second year courses as the participant learns to organize, maintain and evaluate a summer session, its students and teacher participants. Course objectives:
- To demonstrate the use of the Slingerland® Approach with a classroom group of children
- To make appropriate evaluations of lesson plans, materials and teaching stations
- To make appropriate evaluations of delivery of planned lessons
- To assist in completing forms for the Slingerland® Institute
- To prepare five lectures and satisfactorily deliver two of them
- To prepare an orientation about dyslexia and the Slingerland® Approach
- To satisfactorily complete the individualized requirements assigned by Director
Learner Outcomes
- Create lesson plans and demonstrate the use of the Slingerland® Approach with a classroom of children
- Observe lessons implemented by teacher participants
- Evaluate teacher participant's lesson plans, supporting materials, and teaching space
- Guide teacher participants in development of lesson plans, instructional techniques and the Slingerland format
- Prepare and present a lecture to teacher participants

Number of Units: 6.0 graduate level extension credit(s) in semester hours
Who Should Attend: Teachers interested in meeting the needs of students with specific language disability who struggle with reading, writing and spelling
Instructors: All instructors are certified in the Slingerland Multisensory Language Approach
