Course Description

Master Diagnostic Proficiencies Utilizing Electronic Health Records (EHR)

This course provides students with an overview and fundamental understanding of the essential concepts in anatomical pathology, imaging, documentation management, laboratory services, microbiology, outreach laboratory, and mobile phlebotomy, specifically in relation to diagnostic electronic health records. Students will engage with the associated digital desktops and understand the interdisciplinary processes required to deliver efficient and safe patient care. Additionally, the course explores how each diagnostic EHR program can be tailored to match a caregiver’s unique workflow or job description while maintaining compliance with policy and regulatory requirements.

Learner Outcomes

  • Navigate the anatomical pathology and microbiology modules
  • Master laboratory processes within the diagnostic EHR, including outreach laboratory and mobile phlebotomy services
  • Successfully utilize imaging and documentation management processes within the ITS and IDM applications

Number of Units:  2.0 graduate-level extension credits in semester hours
