Course Description

Credit Validation for DoDEA Participants Only

Participants in this course will receive initial professional learning and optional coaching unit planning sessions to complete math unit plans for the 2023-24 school year. Participants will increase their depth of knowledge in the areas of; unit lesson planning, using backwards design, including SMPs and MTPs; and planning for: student use of technology, student use of goals and progress monitoring, and student choice during math stations. Participants can schedule coaching sessions for deep learning of rich content through engagement in relevant and meaningful activities that demonstrate application, continuous professional discussions, and the creation of products through systematic action plans. Professional learning will involve face to face session (small group) and optional coaching sessions (team and/or individual). Participants will track their planning time. Participants will also reflect on the success of their lessons.

Learner Outcomes

  • Gain a working knowledge of unit planning
  • Plan 3 math units during course guided by tools and a math unit planning template found in SED Math Support in Schoology to prepare for the upcoming math units of instruction
  • Deepen their understanding of the unit planning process, MTPs, student use of goal setting, progress, monitoring and technology, and student choice during math stations
  • Reflect upon their learning and professionally respond to questions

Who Should Attend: This course provides continuing education for DoDEA Classroom Teachers and LIMM Teachers.
