Explore the Benefits and Implementation of Student Choice in the Classroom
This course highlights the importance of student choice in the classroom, specifically in creating a more engaged and academically successful student body. When students are active participants in their own learning, research has shown that they are more invested in their outcomes. We will evaluate different ways student choice can be utilized in the classroom and how student choice can be used as a tool to help differentiate learning.

Number of Units: 2.0 graduate level extension credit(s) in semester hours
Who Should Attend: This course provides continuing education for teachers (K-12) who want to integrate Student Choice into their curriculum, and includes instructional coaches, curriculum coordinators, literacy coaches, Response to intervention (RTI) teams, and beginning teachers. Allowing students a choice in their education has shown to be successful in a range of K-12 classrooms, including: under-performing, high ELL population, low socioeconomic.
