Course Description
Create Math Mindsets that Promote Student Success
This course will review current research on teaching and learning in mathematics to promote growth in all learners. It will review high impact mathematical routines and give teachers time to implement and reflect on the effectiveness of these routines. It will give participants timely, practical ideas to immediately implement in their classrooms. Finally, it will look at how mindset affect both those who teach and those who learn mathematics.
Learner Outcomes
- Evaluate routines that support fluency and conceptual understanding in mathematics
- Define how mathematical mindsets affect teaching and learning and how to shift mindsets for positive growth
- Explore the current shift in the teaching of mathematics and how these shifts maximize students’ mathematical potential
Course Details
Number of Units: 2.0 graduate level extension credit(s) in semester hours
Who Should Attend: This course provides continuing education for teachers (Grades K-8) that teach math and want to promote a positive mindset for student success.
