Neurodiversity, Equity and Trauma Informed Approaches for Higher Education Professionals - EDC-X759Z
Course Description
Credit Validation for Center for Embodied Equity and Neurodiversity (CEEN), SOLES Participants Only
This hybrid/online, non-degree certificate program supports and enhances postsecondary educators’ social and emotional learning related to working with neurodivergent students and staff. The certificate is tailored to the unique needs of community college faculty, staff, and administrators. It empowers educational leaders and faculty with the knowledge and skills needed to create and sustain learning and work spaces that honor and support neurodiverse individuals (such as those with ADHD, autism, dyslexia, and more), with a particular emphasis on equity in the classroom and across campus. Participants will develop a deep understanding of the intersectionality of neurodiversity and its implications in college and university settings; learn pedagogical strategies to create inclusive and equitable learning environments; cultivate effective leadership strategies to reimagine higher education in light of increased awareness of neurodiversity; and discover meaningful ways to foster community and belonging.Learner Outcomes

- Interpret neuroception and the ways interactions may signal real or perceived threats from others
- Identify sensory needs and create inclusive environments that are responsive to both neurodivergence and cultural identity
