Course Description
Using Artificial Intelligence as a Teaching Tool in the Classroom
This course is created for our Los Angeles USD teachers and explores the innovative integration of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies in the modern classroom environment. Educators will learn about the new pedagogy of an AI-integrated classroom. Through hands-on activities, educators will gain practical skills in designing and implementing AI-driven educational strategies tailored to diverse learning needs. Additionally, societal and ethical considerations, privacy concerns, and equity implications associated with AI integration in classrooms will be critically examined. Educators will design, adapt, and retool current curriculums to promote the responsible and transparent use of AI to support all learners. Educators will develop a comprehensive lesson utilizing AI to utilize in their classroom.
Objectives:
- Understand the concept of an integrated AI classroom and its potential impact on teaching and learning
- Explore various AI technologies and tools applicable to classroom environments, such as intelligent tutoring systems, chatbots, and adaptive learning platforms
- Develop strategies for effectively integrating AI into instructional design to enhance student engagement and academic achievement

Number or Units: 2.0 graduate level extension credit(s) in semester hours
Who Should Attend: This course provides continuing education for Los Angeles USD education professionals that are interested in leveraging AI to enhance teaching and learning experiences. This includes K-12 educators, instructional designers, educational technologists, and policymakers.
