The Monarch Model Course is designed to empower school- and community-based educators and administrators to make a lasting impact through authentic relationships with at-promise children, youth, and their families. Participants will explore an inspiring approach that integrates relationship-centered, strengths-based, trauma-informed, and restorative practices—fostering safer, more equitable, and healing-focused educational communities.

Drawing on nearly four decades of experience—both successes and lessons learned—in working with unhoused students and families at the Monarch School Project, this curriculum offers valuable insights from interviews with staff across all levels of our organization, along with the resources that have shaped their practices.

We encourage you to bring your unique perspectives and lived experiences into this dynamic learning journey. Through engaging journal prompts, actionable strategies, and scenario-based activities, you will reflect on your successes, confront challenges, and discover simple yet impactful ways to integrate these transformative lessons into your work.

• Develop a plan to modify your professional practice in straightforward, impactful ways that enhance your implementation of the four core approaches

University of San Diego – Academic Credit Information

The University of San Diego partners with this program to offer graduate-level academic credit. To receive credit, participants must first register and complete coursework through the external program provider.

Please Note: USD does not provide course materials, manage instruction, or assign grades. All coursework is evaluated by the program’s instructor or coordinator.

Transcript Process: Final grades submitted by the program provider will initiate the transcript process. Grades should be submitted within 7 days of the official course end date or the course enrollment deadline—whichever comes last. Participants are responsible for ensuring their mailing address is accurate and up to date in their USD student account to avoid delays in transcript delivery.
