This course is designed to develop and deepen the capacity of secondary mathematics teachers to create and facilitate high-quality learning opportunities for English Learners. Participants will explore the demographic, disciplinary, and instructional shifts necessary to improve learning conditions in math classrooms. The course emphasizes identifying cross-cutting concepts that link algebra, geometry, and statistics, while promoting student agency by providing purposeful language choices aligned with key mathematical practices. Teachers will also learn to design lessons that support and encourage increased participation from English Learners over time, fostering both their academic and linguistic development.
