Bridging Standards and Resources: Strategies for Meaningful NGSS Instruction (Part 1) - EDC-X788Y
Course Description
Credit Validation for DoDEA Participants Only
This course empowers DoDEA Pacific South educators to effectively align the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) with curricular resources to enhance student engagement and deepen learning. Using the Understanding by Design (UbD) framework, participants will explore practical strategies to connect standards, instruction, and assessment in a cohesive and intentional manner.
Educators will examine the structure and purpose of the NGSS, evaluate existing curricular materials, and apply backward design principles to create purposeful learning experiences.
By the end of the course, participants will have developed a standards-aligned instructional outline and curricular map that support rigorous, student-centered science instruction. The culminating product will include a thoughtfully designed lesson plan, implementation of that plan, and a reflective conversation.
Learner Outcomes
