Credit Validation for Overseas Art Education Association Participants Only

In this course, participants will gain in-depth knowledge, skills, and understanding of how traditional and non-traditional art media can enhance engagement and foster the development of both visual art and language arts skills in students. The DoDEA anchor standards for writing, including the use of precise language and domain-specific vocabulary, will be integrated into the course as they align with the visual art anchor standards: Create, Respond, Present, and Connect.

Learner Outcomes

  • Utilize National Core Visual Art and Writing Standards in discussions and collaborative work sessions
  • Work with experts in the field, including contemporary artists, Smithsonian educators, and National Art Education Association leads on advocacy
  • Explore and develop skills with traditional and non-traditional art media
  • Share best practices for creating a rigorous visual arts classroom
