Gain a Comprehensive Understanding of How to Manage Technology Teams and Projects to Become Influential Leaders of Global Technology Organizations
An engineer’s career path in business leads to general management — guiding a business internally and externally. It starts with understanding the market structure and evolves into managing competitive performance, or profit-and-loss (P&L). This course covers the fundamentals of competitive strategy, market access, business development, and market positioning. Accounting, finance, performance measures, and decision-making are examined and applied in the context of how to remain competitive.
This course and certificate are only available for students participating in India.
Learner Outcomes
- Explain the concept of business strategy
- Conduct a comprehensive PESTEL analysis to evaluate the impact of political, economic, sociocultural, technological, environmental, and legal factors on a firm's external environment
- Employ Porter's Five Forces framework to assess the competitive dynamics of an industry, including the threat of new entrants, bargaining power of buyers and suppliers, threat of substitutes, and intensity of competitive rivalry
- Explore business-level strategies and their implementation based on value drivers and cost drivers
- Examine the distinctions between shareholder and stakeholder capitalism, and investigate the transition from corporate social responsibility (CSR) to
creating shared value (CSV) - Define the concepts of globalization, multinational enterprise (MNE), foreign direct investment (FDI), and global strategy
- Develop skills in structuring impactful pitches to craft a diverse portfolio of messages that effectively communicate strategies to different stakeholders

Prerequisites
Bachelor’s degree in a professional field (STEAM or Business) from an accredited institution: official transcripts required.- Bachelor’s GPA of 2.75 or higher. Candidates with GPA under 2.75 can apply, but will be asked to provide relevant explanations in an essay (guidelines provided on applications page).
