Learn How Speaking and Listening Skills and Strategies can Benefit Your ELL Students

In this course, instructors will explore ways to integrate Speaking and Listening Skills into their designated and integrated English Language Development instruction and throughout the school day. A variety of research-based strategies, activities, and pedagogies will be introduced and analyzed for effectiveness in guiding English Language Learners toward English proficiency. This course will guide learners toward identifying the specific learning needs and assets processed by ELL students in their learning environment and help them reach their full potential.

Learner Outcomes

  • Apply different strategies, activities, and elements to create a Speaking and Listening lesson and learning environment
  • Discuss the advantages of explicit Speaking and Listening instruction for ELL students
  • Analyze your classroom or school setting to determine what benefits integrating Speaking and Listening skills could have in guiding ELLs toward English Language proficiency
  • Design an implementation map describing integration of Speaking and Listening Skills
