Course Description

Credit Validation for DoDEA Participants Only

This course explores the art and science of teaching effective mathematical communication to K-5 students. Through a combination of thorough lecture, discussions, and practical exercises, participants will develop skills in creating a mathematically rich environment and teaching mathematical writing concepts. Participants will explore methods for fostering mathematical literacy, communication, and critical thinking skills for young learners. By the end of the course, participants will have a repertoire of resources and techniques to empower elementary students to express and articulate mathematical ideas confidently and coherently through writing.
