Course Description

Learn to Engage Today's Volunteer Workforce

Most nonprofits fall short of understanding the talent management component of attracting, retaining, and engaging volunteers. Many volunteer departments are mismanaged or misunderstood by leadership; as a result, volunteers are rarely fully cultivated or viewed as valuable human capital. This class will provide an overview of modern trends in volunteer engagement, alongside best practices for training, orienting, and supporting volunteers.

Learner Outcomes

  • Analyze a nonprofit's volunteer engagement culture
  • Measure volunteer recruitment efforts based on organizational need, available resources, and potential
  • Recommend changes to organizational practices to effectively influence and engage potential volunteer supporters
