Course Description
Credit Validation, Convenient Online Format
This course enables candidates in the Designated Subjects Career Technical Education (CTE) and Adult Education (AE) Credential Programs to provide evidence of their growth and progress as an effective CTE or AE educator. Candidates will be required to develop an e-portfolio that highlights the knowledge, skills, and abilities obtained through prior coursework or teaching experience. Candidates will create a PowerPoint lesson. This course is mandatory for candidates in the CTE and AE Credential Programs.
Learner Outcomes
- Show evidence of progress toward earning a clear CTE or AE credential and develop personal goals for completion of the credential requirements
- Complete an EdJoin profile with required attachments and do a job search
- Create an effective professional educator resume
- Demonstrate the ability to research and evaluate the advantages of participating in one or more professional organizations
- Describe a personal philosophy of their beliefs about teaching CTE or AE
- Design a comprehensive CTE or AE lesson plan and present lesson content in Power Point
- Develop and e-portfolio containing evidence of their knowledge, skills, and abilities in becoming a successful CTE or AE educator
Course Details
Number of Units: 2.0 graduate level extension credit(s) in semester hours
Who Should Attend: Teachers who need to fulfill the requirements for the Designated Subjects 3-year preliminary CTE credentials (issued after 9/1/2010) and the 3-year preliminary Adult Education credentials (issued after 2/1/2013)

Prerequisites
- Completion of Foundations of Teaching English Learners in CTE or Foundations for Teaching Adult Learners with a grade of "C" or better
- Possession of a valid Preliminary Designated Subjects CTE or AE Credential
