Earn Your Yoga Teacher Training Certificate 

In collaboration with Yoga studios in San Diego, Yoga educators can now earn a certificate for their 200 and 300 hour training courses. 

The Yoga Teacher Training Certificate is an amazing opportunity to do more of what you love while also developing the skills to become an exceptional yoga teacher. During these multi-disciplinary courses, you will learn about flow, alignment, and breath-based practices, as well as yoga philosophy, history and functional anatomy. You will have the opportunity to practice teaching in guided one-on-one and group sessions, receive supportive and constructive feedback to help you build confidence and clarity in your communication skills for teaching and in all areas of your life. In addition, you will gain the necessary skills to lead and support students in developing tools for mindfulness, healthy movement, communication skills, and much more.

Certificate Requirements

To earn the USD professional development certificate in Yoga Teacher Training, students are required to successfully enroll and complete a total of 8-units from one of the studios listed in the course sections. All participants must be registered with their Yoga studio prior to enrolling for credit through the University.  Only those who enroll for a total of 8 units in either the 200 or 300 hour programs, or a combination of 8 units, are eligible for the certificate from the University. If you opt for less than 8 units in either the 200 or 300 hour programs, a certificate will not be issued.

To ensure you apply for the certificate, make sure you add it to your cart and check the box for the one time $45 certificate fee before making payment. A certificate will be issued once you have successfully completed all 8 units. 

Curriculum

Curriculum will vary based on the studio you choose for your training. However generally, your Yoga Teacher Training will include: 

  • Posture techniques related to specific practices
  • Training and practice in yoga mediums
  • Mindfulness and breathing
  • Functional anatomy 
  • Historical Overview of Yoga
  • Yoga Philosophies
  • Teaching Methodologies
  • Verbal cues, sequencing, ethics, and classroom management
  • Teaching Practice
  • Classroom Observations and Evaluations 

Learning Method

In-person live studio classes, student teaching, homework, and online components are included.

Specific learning outcomes will be linked to the studio you choose to complete your certificate with. In general, participants of both the 200 and 300 hour courses can expect to learn: 

  • Learn the 5 alignment steps
  • Understand all breathing techniques for the practice and teaching of yoga
  • Develop yoga practice sequences
  • Identify various elements of yoga history and philosophy
  • Lead classes
  • Implement feedback
