Effective Leadership in Modern Public Safety Program Application

The University of San Diego has leveraged the momentum of its industry-leading Master of Science in Law Enforcement & Public Safety Leadership (MS-LEPSL) to offer a specialized, one-course leadership intensive for public safety professionals. This certificate-style, self-standing course provides a cutting-edge curriculum that repurposes the core tenets of the master's degree into a focused, impactful learning experience. 

The intensive is delivered in a 100% online, asynchronous format designed to accommodate the demanding schedules of public safety professionals. The curriculum is organized into seven  modules, requiring a total time investment of approximately 15 to 18 hours per week. While there are no specific required class meeting times, the course is structured to ensure regular engagement and steady progress through the material, with the public safety experience among the students acting as a cornerstone for practical, real-world application of the course material. This flexible yet rigorous approach allows you to balance high-level professional development with your existing personal and professional commitments.

If you have at least one year of professional public safety experience, you are eligible to apply for this intensive through a streamlined, independent application process. Upon successful completion, you will earn a certificate of completion and 3 graduate-level academic units from the University of San Diego. For students qualified for and interested in the full MS-LEPSL program, these intensive units can be directly applied as transfer credit toward the full MS-LEPSL degree program, specifically fulfilling the requirement for:

  • Effective Leadership in Modern Public Safety: Theory, Concepts, and Application – LEPS 560 

The cost for the online intensive is $729 per unit, totaling $2,187, and provides students with an academic transcript showing their earned graduate-level credit.

  3. Your application and documentation will be evaluated.
  4. If approved, you will receive an email providing you direction enrolling in LEPSL-X560
  5. You will login as directed and submit your payment $2187
    • You will have the option of paying $45 to receive a certificate of completion
  6. A transcript can be provided for an additional $20
